From Pizza Face to No Make Up #Summer17Writing

I really had a face only a mother could love.

I had to wear makeup every single day. I didn't mind because it seemed like the perfect solution to a life-long problem. I was wrong.  My acne reached a level where makeup no longer served me.

 Fall 2014

Fall 2014

It took me 3 years to clear up while learning how to love myself. So, when asked "What is your summer go-to makeup look? by @tanikiadotcom and @sfbthesiren for their #Summer17Writing challenge, I have to say, I'm going with no makeup.

I'm #TeamNoMakeup because I'm on a journey to clear skin. Part of that is learning to feel beautiful with zits and battle scars all over. It's also not adding more damage to the problem. It's easier for my skin to heal when I'm not piling makeup on top of it. Although, I do recommend using Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream. It's a dark spot corrector and it helps protect your skin. I'm also #TeamNoMakeup because I love sleep more than anything.

 Summer 2017

Summer 2017

There's no secret to how I got here. I had to change my eating habits, try acne treatments like Curology, see a dermatologist, and practice patience.

But when I do wear makeup...

 It's a wrap.

It's a wrap.
